Who said old was boring?
Enjoying the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival.
It’s not all work and no play around these ways. I mentioned in my first blog that this holistic health journey is as much about fun as it is anything else.
As well as embarking on a wellness journey that I hope will bring some fun along the way, I’m throwing caution to the wind and saying ‘yes’ to everything that lights me up. Things that Clare of days gone by might’ve felt ‘too old’ or ‘not cool enough’ for.
Nope, not me, not anymore. One of the beautiful things that comes with age is an ability to see past what people might think (who is actually looking?!) and do things anyway.
So far in 2023, I’ve attended the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival and walked part of the Queen Charlotte Track with some friends. I went along to see chef Yotam Ottolenghi at his Flavour of Life Tour here in Auckland and I’ve booked cooking classes with Peta Mathias. I even got lost on the dance floor at Fat Boy Slim.
Fun at Fat Boy Slim.
These days, fun, for me, takes all forms. I’m learning to embrace the beauty of living in the moment and doing what feels right at the time. There’s something therapeutic about getting stuck into some cooking in the kitchen, and equally, being able to let your hair down on the dance floor can be amazing for the soul.
Getting older doesn’t have to mean we have to drop our hobbies, and I’ll definitely be signing up for some more fun as we hurtle through the year. I’ll keep you posted!
